St. Joseph’s City of Bryan Health Clinic Saves Money for City & Employees

At a time when healthcare spending across America grew 10%, the City of Bryan’s expenses dropped.  Here’s what last week’s Eagle article had to say about it:

The city of Bryan is saving money by offering free checkups and basic medical care to its employees, staff members said Tuesday.

The city has offered those services since March 31, 2011, in a 1,150-square-foot clinic on Villa Maria Road. The facility, which is run through a contract with St. Joseph’s Regional Health System, employs a medical director, nurse practitioner, licensed vocational nurse and a certified medical assistant. Employees, retirees and dependents all have free access to their services.

The program was implemented in hopes of reining in the city’s health care spending and providing employees with an added benefit. Both goals are being achieved, officials said.
