IBM Watson Health™ Names CHI St. Joseph Health One of 15 Top Health Systems in the Nation

Bryan, TX, April 25, 2018 – IBM Watson Health™ has named CHI St. Joseph Health among its list of 15 Top Health Systems™, based on its annual study of overall organizational performance. In the small hospital systems category, CHI St. Joseph Health came in second in the entire nation.

Formerly known as the Truven Health Analytics®15 Top Health Systems, the study based its ratings on a balanced scorecard of measures derived from publicly-available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction data. This year’s report evaluated 338 health systems and 2,422 health system member hospitals finding top performing systems:

  • Routinely deliver safe, quality care
  • Achieve shorter lengths of stay (0.4 days shorter)
  • Offer shorter emergency department wait times (40 minutes shorter per patient)
  • Spend less (5.6-percent lower costs per episode, including combined in-hospital and post-discharge costs)
  • Have higher patient satisfaction, as measured by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey (2.3-percent higher)

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work our team has done – across all our hospitals, medical clinics and long-term care facilities – to deliver consistent, quality care and a patient experience that is second to none,” said Dr. Kia Parsi, CEO of CHI St. Joseph Health.
