CHI St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital Offers Cardiac Rehab. Services

(April 20, 2017, Bryan, TX)  Thanks to grassroots community support, CHI St. Joseph Health has extended Cardiac Rehabilitation services to Madisonville.

A specially-trained licensed therapy team is currently providing care for physician-referred cardiac patients on an appointment basis in the Madison Wellness Center at 100 W. Cross Street, near CHI St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital.

“Expanding access to specialized care for the Madisonville community – and all the rural communities we serve – is a core component of our Mission and strategy,” said Marybeth Murphy, Regional Administrator of Rural Hospitals for CHI St. Joseph Health.

“We are grateful to the Madisonville community for supporting this expansion of our rehab. services. Cardiac Rehab. has been proven to help cardiac patients live longer, reduce heart attack risk, better control symptoms and even stop or reverse blood vessel damage.”

Working closely with patients and their referring physicians, Madisonville LPTs develop individualized treatment plans for each patient, incorporating evaluation and evaluation of physical activity, nutrition, stress management and other health-related areas.

Cardiac Rehab. in Madisonville joins a full slate of other community services offered in the 4,500-square-foot Madison Wellness Center since late 2015. The center also houses a Senior Renewal Program, providing psychiatric services for local seniors, a community fitness program and a Therapy Services department, which provides Outpatient Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy.

Seven CHI St. Joseph Health Specialty Clinics Earn National Recognition for Quality Care

(April 19, 2017, Bryan, TX)  The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recently announced that seven of our specialty clinics received Level 2 recognition as a Patient-Centered Specialty Practice (PCSP) for their responsiveness to patients and medical colleagues, cooperation and integration with other health care groups and dedication to continuous improvement.

These seven clinics were among only 16 statewide and 217 nationwide to achieve the prestigious PCSP recognition.

Recognized clinics include:

  • CHI St. Joseph Health General Surgery Associates
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Brazos Surgical Group
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Urology Associates
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Neurology Associates in College Station
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Orthopaedic Associates
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Heart Failure Clinic
  • CHI St. Joseph Health Pain & Spine Associates

Practices that become recognized under Patient-Centered Specialty Practice Recognition have demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and clinical quality through: streamlined referral processes and care coordination with referring clinicians, timely patient and caregiver-focused care management and continuous clinical quality improvement.

Earning NCQA PCSP Recognition shows consumers, private payers and government agencies that the practice has undergone a rigorous review of its capabilities and is committed to sharing information and coordinating care. Recognition also signals to primary care practices that the specialty practice is ready to be an effective partner in caring for patients.

“NCQA is important for our specialty clinics,” said Sam Fulton, Vice President of CHI St. Joseph Health Physician Enterprise. “It speaks not only to how we carry out our Mission and values across our healthcare ministry; it also demonstrates our specialists’ deep level of commitment to partnering with patients and their primary care physicians to achieve the best care possible.”

To achieve Level 2 recognition, our seven clinics met or exceeded national standards for:

  • Communicating with primary care clinicians to exchange key information and establish coordinated care plans
  • Providing timely access to care and clinical advice based on patient need
  • Using a systematic approach to track referrals and coordinate care
  • Measuring and improving performance over time

The NCQA PCSP program offers three progressive levels of specialty practice recognition.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization that accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations and recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance.
